السبئي نت -بيروت، 24 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2012 (مركز الأمم المتحدة للإعلام) – تحتفل الأمم المتحدة اليوم بالذكرى السنوية 67 لتأسيسها، وهو يوم بدء إنفاذ ميثاق الأمم المتحدة عام 1945.
يتم تكريس هذا اليوم للاحتفال بأعمال الأمم المتحدة حول العالم في مجالات تعزيز السلم والأمن، والدفاع عن حقوق الإنسان ودعم التنمية. وفي هذا اليوم، نستذكر المبادئ التأسيسية لميثاق الأمم المتحدة، وتطلعات "شعوب" العالم التي يكرسها الميثاق. كما أننا نكرم الذين خاطروا أو ضحوا بأرواحهم في خدمة الأمم المتحدة.
تعمل في لبنان 23 وكالة تابعة للأمم المتحدة تغطي أعمالها مختلف مجالات السياسة وحفظ السلام والتنمية والقضايا الإنسانية وحقوق الإنسان. وتعمل كل هذه الوكالات وفقا للمبدأ المتمثل في أن السلم والأمن لا يدومان إلا إذا اقترنا بالتنمية واحترام حقوق الإنسان، والسعي إلى المساهمة في بناء مستقبل سيادي ومستقر ومزدهر لللبنان واللبنانيين.
وعقب التفجير الإرهابي المروّع في 19 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر، ألغت الأمم المتحدة حفلة الاستقبال السنوية بمناسبة "يوم الأمم المتحدة" تماشياً مع روح الحداد الوطني على ضحايا هذا الاعتداء. ولكن أنشطة اليوم الأخرى لا تزال جارية. فتنظم أسرة الأمم المتحدة في لبنان سلسلة لقاءات مع طلاب الصفوف الثانوية في عدد من المدارس اللبنانية، وذلك بالاشتراك مع اللجنة الوطنية لليونسكو بهدف تعريف الطلاب على أعمال المنظمة الدولية ومبادئها. كما تنظم الأسرة معرضاً للصور الفوتوغرافية في مطار رفيق الحريري الدولي في بيروت تُعرض خلاله صور تسلط الضوء على الشراكة الطويلة والمتينة بين لبنان والأمم المتحدة، بالإضافة إلى العديد من المشاريع التي تنفذها المنظمة في هذا البلد.

UN Marks UN Day with Hopes for a Stable and Secure Future for Lebanon
Beirut, 24 October 2012 (United Nations Information Centre) – The United Nations marks today the 67thanniversary of the international organization when the UN Charter entered into force in 1945.
This day is set aside to celebrate the work of the United Nations around the world in promoting peace and security, upholding human rights and supporting development. On this day, we recall the founding principles of the United Nations Charter, and the aspirations of “the peoples” of the world that it enshrines. And we honour those who have risked, or given their lives in the service of the UN.
In Lebanon, there are 23 different UN entities covering the entire spectrum of political, peacekeeping, development, humanitarian and human rights issues. They all operate on the principle that peace and security can only hold if accompanied by development and respect for human rights and seek to contribute to building a sovereign, stable and prosperous future for Lebanon and the Lebanese.
Following the appalling act of terrorism on 19 October, the UN cancelled its planned annual reception in the spirit of national mourning for the victims of the attack. But other activities are still underway. The UN family is organizing a series of interactive lectures in a number of high schools across Lebanon in cooperation with the National Commission for UNESCO to introduce students to the work and principles of the United Nations. It is also organizing a photo exhibition at the Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut showcasing images of the longstanding partnership between Lebanon and the world organization and of the myriad projects the UN has been implementing in the country.
